If you feel equally strong about those sentiments, we encourage you to apply to be a Residential Unit Manager.  This leader will be responsible to supervise and direct the Residential Counselors in their implementation of daily living routines and recreation/leisure time routines within the residential program philosophy. Other responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Assists in the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu within the residential environment consistent with the total program philosophy.
  • In conjunction with the Recreation Department, approves any/all recreation/leisure time activities, use of facilities off-campus, use of facilities on campus other than Guardian Angel Home, designated space and special recreation and leisure time activities involving any/all youth.
  • Supervises the implementation of the daily structured record-keeping system of the residential treatment program.
  • Manages records for client allowances and work assignments, and to coordinate resident clothing inventories and needs.
  • Reviews all special incident reports submitted by staff and forward to Program Administrator.
  • Interacts with all multidisciplinary team members of the Guardian Angel Home program and to assist in outlining, reviewing, and clarifying youth and family participation in the residential aspects of the program, and to assist therapists in developing individual treatment programs.
  • Participates in school staffing's as requested by the Program Administrator.
  • Engages youth in dealing with his/her social/emotional problems.
  • Shares in the on-call rotation and doing emergency intakes when necessary.
  • Provides back-up support in emergency situations and coordinate crisis intervention and assisting management staff in setting up unit management procedures.
  • Intervenes in conflict situations involving staff and/or clients to negotiate an acceptable resolution including following the agency's formal grievance procedures.

 Minimum Requirements include: 

  • Education: BSW; or Bachelor's degree in a human service field plus four years of approved work experience (two of which must be in a residential setting); or two plus years of college with a commitment to complete degree in designated time frame and four years of approved work experience (two of which must be in a residential setting).
  • 2+ year's residential experience
  • Must pass DCFS background check
  • Valid driver's license

        Preferred credential: Master's Degree in Human Service field
